We are part of the mainstream of Christian Churches and work closely with other denominations locally. We also maintain links with other Baptist churches in the Leeds area - in particular with Hunslet Baptist Church on the south side of the city centre, where there are many similarities to our own situation. We are also in a formal clustering with South Parade Baptist, in Headingley north of Leeds.
As Baptists, we emphasise commitment to Christ’s lordship, expressed in believer’s baptism, and the responsibility of every Christian to be a witness in the world. Each Baptist Church is self-governing, and the members, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, are responsible for its life.
We hold to the authority of God’s word, the Bible, and try to live our lives in the light of its teaching. We are also open to the future, believing that "the Lord has yet more light and truth to break forth from his word".
