We feel sorry that so many people choose not to go to church these days and recognise that much of the responsibility lies with the irrelevance that many have found when they’ve made the effort to visit. If there’s anything we’re trying hard to be it is relevant. So we try to: speaking ordinary English, talk about everyday life, recognise the pressures of living and working in Leeds, keep our feet on the ground whilst believing in the God who answers prayer and does the impossible.
Because our church is so mixed and always changing, no two Sundays are the same as we try to balance the needs and preferences of those who come along. Our services (click here to find out more about our services) vary from week to week but usually have a mixture of singing, prayer, readings from the Bible and a sermon. Time is always given for sharing news about what is happening to church members and friends - so that we can support one another in the ups and downs of life. We have a Sunday School that runs during most of our services and we have Beta groups that meet in homes during the week to study the Bible and pray together.
We are part of the Yorkshire Baptist Association and the Baptist Union of Great Britain and are also involved in interdenominational groups such as Leeds City Centre Churches and Churches in Blenheim and Woodhouse.
Further afield, we are linked to several BMS World Mission personnel and are twinned with Baptist Churches in Riga, Latvia and in Dallas Texas, USA. These links have resulted in exchange visits and close friendships that have helped to give us an insight into church life with very different cultures.
